Have Your Child Tested

Ask your doctor to test your child for lead

Most children who have lead poisoning do not look or act sick. A blood test for lead is the only way to know if your child has lead poisoning.

Children should be tested for lead when they are 1 and 2 years old, or if they live in or spend time in an older home (built before 1978), especially if the home was repainted or repaired.

The LA County Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program can provide more information about testing your family for lead poisoning.
